Dimentech's Herbal Info

Herbs are the highest quality food known to man containing vitamins, minerals and trace elements in natural balance and harmony.
We believe that herbs were given to us to maintain and restore our health. We believe that herbs get to the cause of health problems, rather than simply relieving a symptom.
As with anything you might ingest, herbs can produce side effects. Some may cause nausea, others require attention to dosage, in order to avoid serious reactions. It is recommended to fully research any herb you plan to take, and to know it's characteristics. Learn to listen closely to your body's signals, and use care in any food or drug you ingest.
You should pay heed to anything you ingest, and it's toll upon your body. In this regard, you should give herbs the same regard as you would a drug. Study it, and give it the respect it deserves. Unlike drugs, herbs often work better in combination. If an herbalist suggests several herbs to you, or you are drinking a tea with several herbs in it, do not worry about one herb conflicting with the others. If you are attempting to treat several conditions at one time, some herbalists will suggest taking different herbs at varying times throughout the day.
Personally, I start slow and work up to the recommended dosage. Always listen to
your body's signals and reactions, and alter the amount accordingly. Every person is
different, as well as their absorption and utilization of whatever substance you might
take. If in doubt as to how much or how long, consult your health practitioner.
"It takes one month for every year of illness for the person to REBUILD the
body." (Dr. Jack Ritchason, "The Little Herb Encyclopedia.")
It's impossible to give a set answer. There are many factors involved. The severity of the problem, your assimilation and digestive system, the number of herbs taken, and the severity or tenacity or your particular problem. Some problems may well get excellent results within a day, while others may not feel any difference for weeks.
Herbs are a slow, safe, cure." Don't ever quit taking drugs you are dependent on. Many people have gradually decreased drug dosage and frequency with the use of herbs. If possible, work with your medical doctor. If your medical doctor will not help you with your decisions regarding herbs, you might consider finding a new practitioner who will take into account your desire to use more natural methods of managing your health.
Since herbs are food, you can generally take them whenever you want. Most people will take them before meals so the liquid won't dilute their digestive juices. Others on a busy schedule will take them first thing in the morning and last thing at night. (Some people who take their herbs after meals may experience burping.) Herbs for insomnia and cleansing are mostly taken at night. Appetite depressants and blood sugar balancers are best taken 15 minutes to 30 minutes before the problem hits.
